Chinkerinchee
Picture of a Chinkerinchee that occurs in the fynbos reserve of Fijnbosch Farme.
When Chinkerinchees were first discovered by European visitors to the Cape of Good Hope, they
took bunches of them back to Europe. This plant stays fresh for so long, that the blooms were still usable after the long
sea voyage through the tropics!
On our mountain, the Chinkerinchees seem to grow exceptionally long stems. We are collecting their seed to selectively grow better flowers from this stock.
