Protea cynaroides - King Protea
King proteas (Pr. cynaroides) from King Valley on the slopes of Fijnbosch Farme.
On top of our highest peak, there is a small gorge or valley. In this valley we have found some King Protea (Protea cynaroides) growing wild. The King Proteas that we sell had all been planted by the previous owner. These proteas are a slightly different variant of protea cynaroides.
Of course, we called the valley "King Valley". The plants there are magnificent, albeit a little insect-ridden. It is just a different feeling to discover a plant growing in the wild without having been put there by man.
